Financial Statements are the main source of financial information for most decision makers, as these show the financial health of a business. We know finance can be daunting. By learning the basics of financial statements you will be able to understand the flows of money in your business or project. Financial Statements

Income Statement
Otherwise known as the Profit and Loss. These look at past flows of money. This shows the the money received (revenue) and spent (direct costs and overheads).

Balance Sheet
This looks at the present snapshot. This summarises a company’s assets (what it owns), liabilities (what it owes) and equity (the amount shareholders would receive) at a point in time.

Cashflow Forecast
This looks at future flows of money. This shows the timing of the cash surpluses or shortfalls over a 12 month period to predict the bank balance.
